Initial Post Instructions

This week you learned how to collaborate with others online. Based on what you learned, which features did you find most beneficial and how could you use these in your current workplace? Why is online collaboration so important? Is this something that is needed in the healthcare environment? Which tools do you use to collaborate today?

Write your review in a Word file using Times New Roman font (no smaller than 10 pt but no bigger than 12 pt), single spacing, 1″ margins on all sides, single spacing, and the paper’s length is at least 1 page but no more than 2 pages. Any direct quotes from the movie, header, or footer do not count into the length of the paper.

In the midterm paper, you need to identify at least three problems (problems identified must be from the software engineering perspective, do NOT discuss from the general ethics perspective) that could have been avoided if a good software development method is applied in “Office Space”.

1. Identify three problems related to software engineering and describe what the consequences of these problems are respectively; (4 points)
2. Explain what actions you, as a member working on a software project, would have taken in order to avoid those problem respectively; (4 points)
3. Describe if your actions (described above) are related to any knowledge that you learned from the first 4 modules of this semester. (2 points)

nitial Post Requirement (20 points):  Minimum 300 words. There are 2 parts to the initial discussion post.

Part 1: Think of at one thing you must do this week.  For each part of the five parts of the definition of an activity described in Section 8.1, CPM4e, describe how it does or does not meet the definition.

Part 2: Describe at least one activity needed to complete a work package in a project you’ve participated in the past.  Using Exhibit 8.9, CPM 4e, discuss how you or your organization uses various remedies to address problems in estimating activity duration.

Response Post Requirement (10 points):  Minimum 150 words.  In the response post, discuss how your organization addresses the problem described in Part 2 of the initial post.  You  can rely entirely on your experience or it can be a combination of your experience supplemented with information learned from the course reading materials and other references.

Assessment: You will be assessed on 1) content and 2) completeness (e.g., use of in-text citation of references used for summarizing, paraphrasing and quoting and other writing mechanics) and word count.

Guidance:  See the Purdue Online Writing Lab (OWL) website for guidance on citations and references.   A copy of the Purdue OWL citation chart is provided in the course home page (Moodle).  Discussion forum content can include a combination of material from literature and your own personal experience.  Do some research and find papers that are associated with the topic of the question.  It is recommended that you use the materials provided in this course and the assigned readings in CPM 4e and the PMBOK 6e for references when appropriate for the question you’ve chosen.  Online blogs are not acceptable references.
