But we won’t let that happen this semester!…because this semester, we have the choice of managing the project as with waterfall or agile…

Case Study Question

Society is becoming increasingly dependent on computers and technology for functioning in every day life. Every aspect of our lives has been affected by the infiltration of computers and technology. Computers are used to conduct business from home, meet new friends and find old friends, maintain communications with distant family, and to met out some stress relief after a long day at the office. As more and more people rely on computers to succeed each day, it begs the question – are people becoming too dependent on computers, your paper should look at either the historical changes that shook up society or future changes being developed now that will shake up society?

Please answer the question with a minimum of 500 words. Attach the submission in a word document. Credit will not be given if the document is not the minimum number of words.

As the CISO, you are responsible for development and implementation of various security policies to ensure the protection of company sensitive information and systems. There are different levels of policy from executive level to issue specific and system level policies.Discuss how the program policy leads to the other types of policies. Provide at least two examples of issue specific policies and two system specific (codified) policies. Include at least one research reference and associated in-text citation using APA standards. In your replies to your peers discussing the examples given and how they can reduce risk to the corporate network. 

You must have 10 external scholarly citations within the submission.

Software-defined networking (SDN) and intent-based networking (IBN) offer an ability to revolutionize the modern network architecture. Both of these concepts are relatively new, and your chief technology officer (CTO) has only heard them in passing. In fact, she pawned them off as the new “marketing fad” dressed up as a new concept. Since you have researched both technologies, you understand this is not a fad. When used in combination with virtualization and cloud computing, you know SDN and IBN could revolutionize how the organization operates, providing for reduced costs, efficiency, better management of the network assets, and security. 

However, you need to develop an indepth white paper for the Caduceus CTO to highlight these benefits. Given the CTO has only heard the term in passing, you must describe in this white paper, the SDN and IBN concepts, their benefits, and what it would take for the organization to implement.

Forming Your Teams

In addition to submitting your individual white paper here in Assignment 3, you will also begin to work with your team for the upcoming collaborative projects (Assignments 4 and 5).  You should meet your team, brainstorm ideas for your white paper together, and begin planning your upcoming work.

Writing Your Paper

After you introduce yourself to your team and brainstorm ideas for this assignment, refer to the SDN and IBN Assignment Resources for more details about Caduceus and download the assignment template.

In your white paper, use additional sources of information but also describe the concept in layman’s terms. Use visuals where appropriate. Describe how an SDN/IBN architecture would look different than network architectures we have traditionally deployed. Compare and contrast the network architectures and discuss the pros and cons of each.

The paper should include the following sections:

• introduction to software-defined networking (SDN) (discussed in Week 3)
• introduction to intent-based networking (IBN) (discussed in Week 4)
• discussion on how virtualizing the desktop and now back-end infrastructure are complementary and related
• discussion of how SDN and IBN are related

Discussion Forum (suggested level of effort: 1 hour)

The purpose of a discussion forum is for students to engage one another over topics related to the course material.  An initial post by each student “sets the table” for follow-on responses by other students.  In a graduate-level academic setting, the initial post is more than describing opinion by the student.  Rather, it is opinion supported by published literature or other references (e.g., refereed journals, textbooks, and especially the PMBOK).  The response post can be less formal but no less thoughtful in content.

Discussion Topic:  Chartering a Project

Initial Post Requirement (20 points):  Minimum 300 words.  Choose one of the 11 discussion questions located at the end of Chapter 3, CPM 4e and write a discussion post in response. You must include at least one citation (in text) and a reference list in support of your discussion.

Response Post Requirement (10 points):  Minimum 150 words.  In the response post, you will provide a counter opinion or alternative point of view, not simply a reaffirmation of the initial discussion post.  The response post can rely entirely on your experience or it can be a combination of your experience supplemented with information learned from the course reading materials and other references.

Assessment: You will be assessed on 1) content and 2) completeness (e.g., use of in-text citation of references used for summarizing, paraphrasing and quoting and other writing mechanics) and word count.

Guidance:  See the Purdue Online Writing Lab (OWL) website for guidance on citations and references.   A copy of the Purdue OWL citation chart is provided in the course home page (Moodle).  Discussion forum content can include a combination of material from literature and your own personal experience.  Do some research and find papers that are associated with the topic of the question.  It is recommended that you use the materials provided in this course and the assigned readings in CPM 4e and the PMBOK 6e for references when appropriate for the question you’ve chosen.  Online blogs are not acceptable references.
