Unit 4 Lab: Working With Compressed Files in Linux

Course Outcome:

IT275-2: Configure the key features of the Linux operating system.

Purpose

Managing disk space, file permissions, and compression are necessary parts of being a system administrator. In this week’s lab, you will perform these activities and compress files in Linux.

Lab Instructions

Review the Unit 4 Lab Rubric (under Course Resources, then Grading Rubrics) before beginning this activity.

1. Using the techniques discussed in the readings, complete the lab in A Cloud Guru called “Working with Compressed Files in Linux.”

   You will have 2 hours to complete the lab. Please download the lab guide for the usernames and passwords needed for this lab. You are going to ssh using PuTTy to the server outlined in the lab guide and run the command echo your name `date`. Note: The ` symbol is next to the number 1 on your keyboard.

2. Take screen captures of the aforementioned information, along with the output in the “Try out different compression methods,” “Create tar files using the different compression methods,” and “Practice reading compressed text files” sections.
3. Finally, write a paragraph on what you have learned in this lab and any items you still need to have explained.

Lab Requirements

Your lab document should include:

• Required screenshots, as outlined in the Instructions tab, pasted inside a Microsoft Word document. Multiple screen captures are okay.
• A paragraph describing what you learned and what you still have questions about.
• Both in-text citations and references for all sources. For more information on APA style formatting, go to the resources under the Academic Tools area of this course.
• No spelling, grammar, or APA style errors.

This is a basic slideshow app to show 10 cat images, attached to this assignment (Cats.zip). You need design your app following below sketch. You will need to show all ten images automatically or manually. After last picture, your app should show the first picture in circular way. User can touch left and right buttons to navigate thru pictures manually. Play button automatically shows pictures. Stop button stops the slideshow. The delay between pictures are 3 sec by default. However user can change delay time by going setting view of the app. This app is similar to MathGame in terms of how to setup the views. Also, you will need to use timer class. 

For this assignment, you will learn to create, sort and filter an Excel table.

Melanie Castillo, Product Manager for Rosedale Landscape and Garden, has requested a worksheet that summarizes the current palm tree inventory data. Melanie would like the worksheet to include the total Quantity in Stock and Total amount of Sales by Type, and she would like the items to be sorted from lowest to highest retail price using custom sort. She would also like the Total amount of all Sales, with a Funnel Chart created.

You will do the following:

· Edit the file e02L_Palms file (see Project 3B files) to provide Melanie with the information requested, and use the Table feature to find the data requested.

· Format the worksheet titles and data and include an appropriately formatted table so that the worksheet is professional and easy to read and understand.

Insert a footer with the file name, and add appropriate document properties.
