1. The portfolio that contains elements you have been working on throughout the course; and  
2. The final p (problem analysis) that you will include as part of the portfolio.  

Let’s look at the BIG picture first, the final portfolio.    

What is a portfolio? 

A portfolio is a collection of items organized in a notebook, file, or a similar format. By collecting this information throughout a course, you can clearly see the connections among assignments as well as the progress you have made. In ENGL110, your portfolio will reflect the work you have done in a specific discipline or topic, ending with the analysis of a problem you have explored. Here are the required elements of the portfolio. The required sections are included in the template.

Assignment Instructions 

This analysis project requires you to tackle a problem within your field of study by first exploring it, its causes, and its impacts.  Then, if you want, you can recommend one or more practical solutions to solve the problem.   

After deciding on the problem you wish to tackle, begin building questions about it. Your goal for the analysis is to answer the questions through your sources. Finding multiple angles and perspectives is ideal so that you explore those possibilities in the final paper before settling on your recommendation.  Be sure to identify what is at stake.  

Here are questions to help guide your analysis: 

1. What is the problem being addressed (explain, describe, and “prove” that it exists)?  
2. Who is affected by this problem?  
3. Why does this problem exist? (Identify the root causes.)  
4. Why does the problem persist? (Identify the major factors that contribute to the problem’s ongoing presence.)  
5. What is at stake if the problem is not solved? 

  If you decide to include a solution, use these questions to guide you:   

1. Who can take action?  
2. What should they do, exactly?  
3. Why would this help? 
4. What are the positive and negative aspects of your solution(s)?  

• PURPOSE:   To analyze a problem and possibly provide a solution 
• AUDIENCE:   Classmates, others interested in the field 
• LENGTH:   900 – 1,000 words (Times New Roman font). Please do not go significantly (~10%) under or above the word count requirement. This word count includes only the paragraphs in your final  (not the Works Cited/References page or previously submitted sections).
• SOURCES:   5 (five) sources  (These may include sources you used in previous assignments. Going under this number will cost points in grading.) 
• FORMAT:   The citation style that is appropriate for your discipline  

Submit your assignment as a Word document attached to the assignment link so it can be automatically processed through Turnitin. Use either the MLA or APA template provided. You can save the template with a title like this: Your Name Portfolio Final Pa.   

Instructions

This week’s assignment we are going to go back and look at our setup from Weeks 2 and 6’s assignment. You will want to use the knowledge gained from the readings this week to identify any possible attack vectors to your SCADA/ICS network system. You are NOT producing a full risk assessment this week, rather just identifying any possible changes that you may need to make after your readings.

Article Review Instructions

Overview

After reading through your Learn material, you are to pick a topic of interest that was mentioned in the Learn material. Using the Jerry Falwell Library and other scholarly resources, you are to locate a peer reviewed journal related to the topic of your interest. The journal article should have been published recently (within the past 2-3 years) and should feature material that is directly related to the course material. Read the journal article thoroughly so you can discuss it. If you wish to use something other than a peer reviewed journal, please consult with your instructor before starting the Article Review. 

Instructions

You will then prepare an article review related to the topic that you researched in the Learn material from the assigned module. The Article Review that you create must be at least 750 words and be formatted according to APA style. 

Use the following section order to guide you in building your Article Review but do not use the numbers in your section headers, only the names. Also, this is example is not in APA style, make sure your review follows APA styles, this is a guide NOT a template.

1. Bibliographical Reference:

a. Create a single bibliographical entry in APA style in the first section of your Article Review paper. This should include:

i. Detail the author(s) of the article

ii. Name of the Journal (including volume, issue, year, page numbers, etc.)

iii. Name of the article you are reviewing.

b. Note – You may also choose to identify the article you are reviewing (i.e. – The focus of this review will be “Article Name” published in “Journal Name” in “Year/Month”) and then simply cite it in a bibliographical entry at the end (see section 7).

2. Objectives:

a. After reviewing the article, use a bulleted list to identity the 3 to 5 primary points you feel the article addresses.

b. Simply put the bulleted list of those points in your Objectives section with something to the effect of “After reviewing “Article Name” the three main points addressed by the author(s) were: 

· Bullet one

· Bullet two

· Bullet three

3. Summary:

a. Summarize the article you reviewed in approximately 2 or 3 full paragraphs. 

b. Do not use direct quotes at all. If you need to quote it, paraphrase what you read. 

c. Use the bullets above (section 2b) to structure what you wish to discuss in this summary (i.e. – In the first paragraph, summarize the article section which addresses the first bullet in 2b and so on).
 

4. Results:

a. Now that you have read this article and summarized it, what do you feel that a reader can learn about the topic from the article?

b. Using bullet points, highlight the things you feel like you learned more about after reading this article. It’s best to keep this list to a maximum of 5 bullets. 

c. Note – these bullets should not be identical to the bullets in the Objective Section (2b).

5. Critique:

a. Use this section to provide an academic critique of the article. 

i. How well (or poorly) was this article written? 

ii. Did it accomplish the objectives it set out to do (think back to the Objectives section)?

iii. Why or why not?

b. Explain your opinion and offer some additional sources (no more than one or two) to support that opinion. 

c. When possible, address the subject matter from a biblical perspective (e.g. – the Bible teaches us to… and this article addresses that by…)

6. Questions:

a. List a minimum of 3 (no more than 5) questions that arose from the reading of this article in a numbered list. 

b. Consider any thing you feel like you should have learned from the article but did not. 

c. Note – These questions may spark your desire to review other matter on the topic and may even be used as a starting point for one of your two research papers (though this is not required).

7. Bibliography:

a. You need to use one other source to support or deny your opinion and if you chose to only identify the article in section 1, you will want to make a bibliography.

b. Follow APA guidelines for Bibliographies as outlined in the APA (Current ed.).

The website can be about anything that should have a need and solution of its purpose being a website.

include the following in your pitch deck:

• A general overview of your website. This should be no more than 2–3 sentences and describe your site at a high level. While this overview should not contain details, it should describe your website clearly.
• A minimum of three problems that your website will attempt to address. The problems must follow these guidelines:
  • Each of the problems should be realistic (think of actual problems that exist) and appropriate for your proposed website. For example, people often struggle to remember to pay bills on time (a realistic problem), but a website with a designer’s portfolio would not solve that problem in any way.
  • Consider why this website is needed in the first place. The examples provided to you throughout the course are for a website on national parks, so the problems could be as follows:
    • Looking at all of the information for a park on the National Parks website is overwhelming.
    • People do not connect with park photos and videos taken by professionals.
    • The popular stories about adventures at national parks can make the parks feel inaccessible or dangerous to some.
• A minimum of three solutions—one for every problem stated on the previous slide.
  • Again, these should be realistic and appropriate for the proposed website. Using the national parks website example, an e-commerce tool is something frequently incorporated into websites but would not be realistic (because of additional cost) or appropriate (because the site is informational).
  • Some examples of realistic and appropriate solutions for the park’s website could be:
    • A condensed user-friendly website highlighting some of the national parks.
    • Photos and videos taken by non-professionals of their experience at the parks mentioned on the site.
    • A way to contact the website creator to ask more about their personal experience at the parks.
• An outline of your website, adding the names of each of the sections followed by a more detailed breakdown of what will go in each section. In the PowerPoint template, there is a slide set up for this information to be placed.
• A summary of what you have shared in the pitch deck. This should be no more than 2–3 sentences and highlight why this website is something that needs to be created.
