CRJ 325 WEEK 6 CASE STUDY 2

Case Study 2: Plain View, Open Fields, Abandonment, and Border Searches as They Relate to Search and Seizures Due Week 6 and worth 100 points Officer Williams asked the neighborhood’s regular trash collector to put the content of the defendant’s garbage that was left on the curb in plastic bags and to turn over the bags to him at the end of the day. The trash collector did as the officer asked in order to not mix the garbage once he collected the defendant’s garbage. Then, Officer Williams’ partner, Officer Martinez, searched through the garbage and found items indicative of narcotics use. Officer Williams and Officer Martinez then recited the information that was obtained from the trash in an affidavit in support of a warrant to search the defendant’s home. Officer Martinez and Officer Williams encountered the defendant at the house later that day upon execution of the warrant. The officers found quantities of cocaine and heroin during the search and arrested the defendant on felony narcotics charges. Write a 1- to 2-page paper in which you:

1. Identify the constitutional amendment that would govern Officer Williams’ and Officer Martinez’ actions.

2. Analyze the validity and constitutionality of the officers’ actions.

3. Assess if the officers’ actions were justified under the doctrines of plain view, abandonment, open fields, or border searches. Support your response by citing specific case law and/or contemporary cases.

4. Use at least three quality references. Note: Wikipedia and other similar websites do not qualify as academic resources.

. Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.

History Essay

September 4, 2025/in General Questions /by Besttutor

Historian Eugene Genovese’s book Roll, Jordan, Roll is an analysis of the lives of Southern Blacks during the time of slavery. One of his main arguments is that while black men and women sometimes did break down under the pressures of the system, the majority of slaves maintained their pride and their dignity – their humanity.

Your assignment is to read three chapters from this book, the first on marriages, the second on fathers & husbands, and the third on mothers & wives. Then answer the following questions, using specific examples or stories from the book. There are no correct or incorrect answers, what I am looking for you to do is to think about the stories in the chapter, to form your own opinion, and then to defend that opinion by referring to specific stories or comments by the author.

1 – How were slave marriages different from traditional southern marriages?

2 – To what extent were male slaves actually able to fulfill the role of husband and father?

3 – To what extent were female slaves able to fulfill the role of wife and mother?

4 – How accurate or inaccurate were the stereotypes that white slave-owners shared about their slaves?

The answers must be typed, double-spaced, and proof-read. (I will overlook the occasional mis-spelling, but consistent writing errors will result in the loss of bonus points). I expect the papers to be typed (double-spaced) and 2-3 pages in length (shorter and longer papers may receive credit based on the quality of the answer).

A special note: The author of this book frequently uses quotations from the masters’ and the slaves’ diaries, journals, and letters. Some of the language used in their day we would find quite offensive in our own time. These are not the author’s own words. Likewise, as your teacher I did not pick these chapters in order to offend anyone, but to give you a glimpse of what life was really like for the slaves. Some of the stories in these chapters are heart-warming, some are heart-breaking, some are horrifying, but altogether they allow us to understand the victims of the system as more than mere slaves, but as real men and real women

music

September 4, 2025/in General Questions /by Besttutor

The late 1920s and 1930s were a time when many Americans endured the humiliation of rampant racism as well as crushing poverty. Yet most mainstream popular music (exemplified by the Tin Pan Alley style) avoided these issues and focused instead on escapist themes of privacy and romance.

Why might this have been the case? Do you feel that contemporary popular music also focuses on escapist themes like the 1920s and 1930s or do you feel that it tackles the relevant issues of the day? Do you feel that popular music works best as an escape from the problems of the world or as a forum to explore and engage in such issues? Please be as specific as possible in citing examples
