The Assignment

Create a 3- to 4-page (excluding visual elements) Medication Study Guide for your assigned psychotropic medication agents that may be utilized by you and colleagues for study. Your medication guide should be in the form of an outline and should include a title page, citations, and references. You should incorporate visual elements, such as concept maps, charts, diagrams, images, color coding, mnemonics, and/or flashcards. Be creative!

Note: Your Medication Study Guide should  not be in the format of an APA paper.

Also Note: Your guide should be informed by the  FDA-Approved and Evidenced-Based, Clinical Practice Guidelines Research.

Areas of importance that you should address—but are not limited to—include:

· Description of the psychopharmacological medication agent, including brand and generic names, as well as appropriate FDA indication uses

· Any supporting, valid, and reliable research for non-FDA uses

Your practice will help you develop a method for formulating ethical decisions.

Prepare

For this assessment, you will apply the four ethical principles to your healthcare topic (selected in Assessment 2), explain bias as it relates to your topic, and relate at least one of the Four Spheres of Care. Complete a family history from a client of your choosing. Please use this form when completing the Family History Assignment. Download this copy to your computer and type in the appropriate information. Use and complete this form thoroughly. Then each student is to go to the website http://www.smartdraw.com/specials/genealogy.asp and sign up for the free access. Please be aware that the free access is time limited. Follow the directions on the website. Starting with the paternal and maternal grandparents, construct a genogram of the client’s family using the appropriate symbols and connections. Include a grid explaining the symbols that you have used. Include parental siblings and the client’s siblings. Type a brief 1 – 2 page explanation of the genogram. Provide a narrative of your interpretation of the family history to include the following:

1.            Patterns of disease.

2.            Opportunities for patient education.

3.            Factors complicating your interpretation.

4.            Risk Classification.

5.            Identify where more information is needed.

6.            This is to be written according to the APA guidelines. Use a title page. Attach the grading criteria to the back of your paper.

As you know, there are many traditional formats you can use to share your results, such as presenting at a professional conference or publishing an article in a journal. As a leader with advanced practice knowledge, you may also have the opportunity to present your results virtually. Webinars and virtual workshops are additional methods professionals can use to share knowledge and evidence-based findings.

As you prepare to share your presentation virtually in this Discussion, think about what you would like to convey about your project to your colleagues in this course and to your practicum Faculty Member. What considerations should you take into account as you prepare to present your Practicum Project findings, conclusions, and recommendations online? What strategies can you use to ensure your presentation clearly articulates your results in the virtual environment? Keep these thoughts in mind as you prepare your final draft of your Practicum Project presentation.

To prepare:

Review the Practicum Project Presentation Overview document, included in the Week 9 Learning Resources, and preview the instructions in this week’s Assignment.

Review the information in the Learning Resources, including the suggestions for creating effective PowerPoint presentations.

Consider the distinctions between delivering a presentation in person, e.g., at a professional conference or at your practicum site, and presenting online. What considerations do you need to take into account as you prepare to share your presentation with your colleagues in this online forum? What steps do you need to take to ensure the information is conveyed clearly and effectively?

Using PowerPoint, complete the final draft of your Practicum Project presentation, (as indicated in the Practicum Project Presentation Overview document and this week’s Assignment). Note that the draft of your PowerPoint presentation posted in this online forum should be complete and polished. While you will have an opportunity to make revisions based on your colleagues’ feedback, the document you share should reflect your best effort to create a thoughtful, clear, and engaging presentation.

Post on or before Day 1 the final draft of your Practicum Project presentation (by attaching your PowerPoint to your post). Explain the distinctions that you took into account as you prepared to share your presentation online.
