Home>Homework Answsers>Nursing homework helpNURSEIntroductionThe nursing profession advances through research, which forms the bedrock of evidence-based practice and betters the care we provide. We need to understand these methodologies to improve our practice and ensure the safety and health of our patients. There are two main types of research that we are especially interested in, as they form the basis of the knowledge we use in our day-to-day work to care for patients. They are quantitative research, which is all about numbers and working with large groups of people, and qualitative research, which is more about “story” and working with smaller groups of people. Knowing the difference between them, and also understanding how both relate to evidence-based practice is essential for nurses who would improve the outcomes of healthcareDifferences Between Qualitative and Quantitative ResearchIn nursing research, two approaches serve as the foundation for various studies: qualitative and quantitative. The quantitative approach is rooted in the use of and reliance on numbers and statistical conclusions. In the University of Idaho’s (2019) doctoral program, Jennifer Vinson explains that “the overarching aim of most nursing studies using a quantitative approach is to identify variables that can be counted and establish the patterns or relationships that may exist between them.” We find that it emphasizes testing hypotheses and measuring variables through the use of numerical data and statistical analysis.Conversely, qualitative research endeavors to grasp phenomena from a more individual and, hence, subjective vantage point. It attends to the experiences, feelings, and motivations, which are often more whispered than shouted, of individuals (Smith & Tobiano, 2023). It is a method of research that revels in the richness and variety of human existence. We, as members of the human family, exist in a multiplicity of ways; hence, there is a lot of living data to capture, in either a still or moving manner, through the experiences of phenomena we share across our various existences. This is the realm that qualitative research strives to comprehend and then articulate. Qualitative research provides tools to gain a deeper understanding, which can be highly beneficial in nursing and healthcare contexts.Correlation and Differences Between Research and Evidence-Based PracticeThe interconnected but distinct concepts of research and evidence-based practice (EBP) underpin nursing. Research, in this context, refers to a systematic probe that targets the generation of new knowledge or the validation of existing knowledge (Vinson, 2019). Evidence-based practice, then, must be understood as a parallel effort that aims to integrate the best research evidence with the clinical expertise and patient values that inform nurses’ decisions about patient care (Smith & Tobiano, 2023).The connection between the two is that EBP is very dependent on research findings to direct clinical practices. EBP would have no evidence to support its recommendations without research. Nonetheless, research is all about generating knowledge. EBP, on the other hand, is all about applying that knowledge in the real world. While they are interdependent, research and evidence-based practice (EBP) serve very different purposes within the nursing profession. Thus, while the foundation of EBP is research, what EBP really is, at its core, is a clinical decision-making framework that allows for the best use of the evidence currently available.ConclusionUnderstanding the distinction between qualitative and quantitative research is essential for nurses who wish to engage meaningfully with the research process. The two methodologies have made unique and significant contributions to the nursing knowledge base. Both qualitative and quantitative methodologies are replete with valuable information that can sharpen the focus of nursing and make it more relevant to the population we serve. Their integration has provided a much richer evidence base for effective and efficient EBP. Increasingly, our nursing practices need to be grounded in solid data. Qualitative research and the EBP process can enhance our understanding of human behavior, which should also form the foundation of our nursing practices.ReferencesVinson, J. (2019). p[rovide a replpy as a DNP student

Home>Homework Answsers>Nursing homework helpNURSEnursingto MIRTAThe DNP-led Nurse Practitioner Council needs a practice transformation framework that also enables continuous learning and evidence-based improvement in order to implement translational projects in primary care. The AHRQ developed EvidenceNOW stands as a suitable model for primary care settings because it addresses real-life challenges in this area. The national initiative EvidenceNOW provides support to small to medium-sized primary care practices for developing evidence-based practice implementation abilities and cardiovascular health improvement capabilities. The model is suitable for various translational projects in primary care, even though its primary focus was on the ABCS heart health measures, which include Aspirin use, Blood pressure control, Cholesterol management, and Smoking cessation. The model includes four essential components that integrate implementation science with practice facilitation and data-driven improvement and learning collaboratives. The model enables genuine practice transformation through accessible resources, coaching services, and sustainable change infrastructure.Core Components of the EvidenceNOW Model 1. Practice Facilitation: The primary care teams work directly with trained facilitators to implement quality improvement initiatives and develop new workflows as they adopt evidence-based practices. The facilitators at practice sites establish individual relationships to adapt their support methods according to each location’s distinct requirements. 2. Data Feedback and Benchmarking: Through regular performance feedback practices, obtain information about their starting point and progress measurement capabilities. The practice benchmarking process against peer groups drives both motivational forces and helps organizations discover effective solutions. 3. Quality Improvement Infrastructure: The EvidenceNOW model implements quality improvement (QI) methods through Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycles and team huddles and process mapping to generate changes. 4. External Support and Resources: The model emphasizes cooperation between regional cooperatives, academic institutions, and health extension networks to offer educational tools, together with evidence summaries and toolkits, to practitioners. 5. Learning Collaboratives: The learning collaboration platform allows practices to unite in discussions about challenges and exchange methods to accelerate transformative changes. Why Choose EvidenceNOW for Translational Projects in Primary Care? 1. Primary Care-Centric Design: EvidenceNOW was developed to meet the specific needs of real-world primary care settings, which face limited resources and serve diverse patient populations. 2. Scalable and Sustainable: The model enables broad system-wide implementation of EBP so it becomes suitable for various primary care clinics and networks. 3. Supports Capacity Building: The continuous facilitation combined with feedback in EvidenceNOW enables practices to build internal strength that enables them to keep quality improvements active beyond project completion. 4. Promotes Team-Based Care: The model fosters interprofessional teamwork, which enables nurses, providers, medical assistants, and administrative staff to jointly lead care transformation efforts. 5. Aligns with DNP and NPC Goals: The model supports DNP leaders in their mission to transform healthcare systems because it uses Quality Improvement methods, involves stakeholders, and offers practice support.Application Example in NPC-Led Project: A Nurse Practice Council seeking to enhance diabetes care at three primary care offices would implement the EvidenceNOW model through the following steps: The project employs facilitators at each location to help practitioners modify their workflow procedures for glucose monitoring and patient teaching. The collection of HbA1c control baseline data enables the production of monthly feedback reports. The NPC schedules monthly meetings that unite all clinics to examine their results while sharing their achievements and improving their strategies. Patient follow-up and lifestyle counseling protocols receive testing through PDSA cycles, which leads to their refinement. The project will expand its medication adherence tracking system after six months based on the successful initial outcome results. The EvidenceNOW model serves as a flexible, evidence-based framework for primary care translational projects, which is both practical and scalable. The model combines external facilitation with data-driven decision-making and interprofessional collaboration to enable the Nurse Practice Council to deliver sustainable patient care improvements. The model offers optimal primary care transformation solutions for DNP leadership through its flexible nature, combined with team-oriented care and its focus on small and mid-sized practices.Referencesde Oliveira, N.
