It aimed to address global health disparities for women, children, and adolescents. This strategy is needed because millions of women and children die each year from avoidable pregnancy, delivery, and lack of basic health care. Despite medical and public health advances, a huge percentage of the world remains underserved, especially in developing nations. Lack of prenatal care, competent birth attendance, immunizations, sanitation, and health education fosters poverty, poor health, and death. Underfunding, political instability, and insufficient healthcare infrastructures also hinder equity. Pandemics burden healthcare systems; hence, the EWEC strategy offers a focused, coordinated response. It boosts survival rates and advances gender equality, education, and economic stability. Without this endeavor, millions of lives are at stake, and progress in global health equality slows. What Prompted the Attention to Implement Change?Alarming global health trends and care gaps spurred EWEC policy adjustments. The 2011 mortality of approximately 7 million children under five from avoidable illnesses highlighted the need for comprehensive intervention (World Health Organization, 2022). Another concern was that nearly 2.5 billion people lacked sufficient sanitation, which spread illness and increased child mortality. In 2018, 20% of deliveries in Peru were performed without medical help, placing women and babies at risk (Rodrigo-Gallardo et al., 2023). These data sparked worldwide action. International institutions and governments sought to end unnecessary mother and child mortality and address health inequities. A multi-sectoral, global approach was also motivated by the increased awareness of how social determinants of health, including poverty, gender inequality, and lack of education, affect health outcomes. The EWEC effort aligned stakeholders and money with human development objectives beyond healthcare.Relevant Evidence Supporting the Need for PolicyQuantitative and empirical research support the EWEC strategy. In EWEC-supported countries, trained healthcare professionals attended 40% more births between 1996 and 2018 (WHO, 2024). This data shows that the policy can enhance mother health. The continuation of unattended deliveries in many locations shows that much work remains. In 2011, approximately 7 million avoidable child deaths showed the devastating effects of health care inaccessibility (Tessema et al., 2023). Lack of sanitation for 2.5 billion people spreads infectious illnesses, disproportionately impacting children. The approach is supported by research showing that immunizing 90% of children may eradicate many avoidable illnesses (Unicef, 2023). These data prove that targeted health treatments under EWEC save lives and should be increased. Strong alliances support the policy. Global organizations, including USAID, UNFPA, PAHO, UNICEF, the World Bank, and others, worked together to create it. Their combined experience and resources guarantee that the project receives financial and operational backing, boosting the chances of sustainability.Policy Recommendations from a Professional PerspectiveAs a public health expert and global health equality advocate, I recommend renewing and expanding the “Every Woman Every Child” campaign to focus on five key areas:1. Funding Increase: Governments and international organizations must fund EWEC regularly. Foreign aid and coordinated investments improve health care in low- and middle-income countries. Even the finest ideas collapse without enough money.2. Community Health Worker Integration: Marginalized populations benefit from community health professionals learning grassroots health remedies. EWEC must work and be codified for wider, culturally acceptable healthcare coverage.3. The Expansion of Education Programs: Safe childbirth, maternal health literacy, and newborn care education are essential. Knowledge empowers women, enhancing family health and emergency care.4. Data Infrastructure Improvements: Lack of timely, trustworthy data complicates health disparities assessment. Data, mobile reporting, and regional health registries help identify gaps and measure progress.5. Accountability Measures: Standards and reporting for EWEC states may boost transparency and progress. Public peer reviews and progress reports should include birth attendance, immunization coverage, and maternal death.ReferencesRodrigo-Gallardo, P. Home>Homework Answsers>Nursing homework helpNURSEreplyCreate a Reply for a discussion using APA 7 format, and scholarly references no older than 5 years.A Reflection on Healthcare Policy, Nursing Leadership, and Delivery SystemsThe Healthcare Policy and Delivery Systems course I took has deeply ingrained in me the importance of healthcare policy in patient care, service access, and healthcare outcome. I regarded policies as outside forces that did not affect the role of a nurse, and that was my view before this course. I realized, however, that policies dictate who gets care, what type of care, and how efficiently it can be provided. For example, policies like the Affordable Care Act (ACA) have shown that legislation can directly impact vulnerable populations by expanding insurance coverage and preventive services. Additionally, I explored how reimbursement policies (such as value-based care models) affect the quality and cost-effectiveness of care delivery (Day et al., 2022). During my practice, I saw that a Medicaid eligibility policy change made a difference in helping our community clinic access even more diabetic care for many of our patients. Connecting the dots between high-level policy decisions and the reality of patients’ and providers’ experiences helped me see that you cannot deliver equitable, effective care if you do not understand policy.Through this course, I have understood the role of the advanced practice nurse (APN) in reshaping healthcare policy. Our unique, holistic, patient-centered approach positions APNS to bridge clinical expertise with policymaking. From APNs, I have learned that we may lead initiatives, serve on healthcare boards, do policy research to help make change, and testify to be persuasive in legislative decisions. Through this, I have learned that being an APN is more than direct patient care; it is also about advocating for system-level change that benefits everyone, not just a part of the whole (Day et al., 2022). I hope to become actively involved in policy reform in my future career by joining advocacy groups, including the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), and going to policy forums to keep abreast with what is happening in the debates. While drafting policies to combat health disparities, to increase primary care access, and to encourage preventive health strategies, I anticipate being a part of that. By following these steps, I will not only extend my boundaries as a healthcare provider but also satisfy my ethical obligation to use my profession to influence social justice in healthcare.Based on my assessment of this course, applying what I have learnt will entail my full dedication, awareness, and consistent engagement with my daily nursing practice. I intend to keep abreast of policy updates by reviewing these through professional journals and healthcare news platforms. Furthermore, I will also engage in continuing education with an emphasis on healthcare legislation and regulatory change (Day et al., 2022). At my workplace, I plan to start talking about the policy impacts in the staff meetings so that these effects can be made known to the staff, and I can work with them to make collective efforts. This is also a part of my learning that I also know how important it is to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure that the policy changes are effectively implemented at the organizational level. Finally, I will argue for evidence-based policy that enshrines patient safety and equitable care delivery. The first concrete thing I will do to help will probably be to promote and encourage the inclusion of frontline nursing perspectives in organizational decision-making processes. By doing so, I can help ensure that the policies we follow are practical, patient-focused, and reflective of the realities of clinical practice. This course has been transformative personally and professionally in forming my identity as a nurse leader, advocate, and change agent. I have learned to be more accountable for the decisions I get to make to influence the systems in which I work, rather than being acted upon (Day et al., 2022). I have gained confidence in knowing how things are done and understand why, so I can be more effective in pulling the levers nurses can push to effect change. I have come to value that being a nurse leader is about more than managing teams; it also requires having the courage and knowledge to spearhead policy that upholds ethical care practice and bears forth better health outcomes. The communication and critical thinking skills in analyzing policy proposal implications to various populations have improved after this course. It has spurred me on more than ever to seek out leadership roles and to use my voice to work for underserved communities. In conclusion, this course has set me on not only being a more informed and empowered practitioner, but more so, it has ignited my interest in and passion for a lifelong engagement in health care policy and reform.ReferencesDay, S., Acquafredda, E., Humphrey, J., Johnson, M., Fitzpatrick, M., Spasojevic, J., & Konty, K. Home>Homework Answsers>Nursing homework helpNURSEreplyPlease ensure that the Reply includes more than 200 words with scholarly articles, and the plagiarism level must remain below 20%.Reflection on Healthcare Policy and Delivery SystemsUnderstanding Policy InfluenceThis course has significantly deepened my understanding of how healthcare policy directly influences patient care, access to services, and healthcare outcomes. The realization hit me that policy functions as a dynamic factor that controls both the quality delivery and accessibility of clinical services. The Medicaid expansion policy has delivered better patient preventive care, decreased emergency department visits, and boosted chronic disease management, resulting in better outcomes (Giannouchos et al., 2022).Role of Advanced Practice Nurses (APNs)APNs perform a vital function in healthcare policy to design and deliver patient care by blending clinical practice knowledge with organizational leadership skills, healthcare advocacy, and a strong understanding of treatment requirements. This course taught me the direct ways Advanced Practice Nurses participate in legislative work through advocacy systems, policymaking, and healthcare innovation activities. Due to their strategic position, Advanced Practice Nurses can detect care deficiencies, introduce evidence-based propositions, and participate in policy development to eliminate health disparities. The future of my healthcare career includes actively pursuing healthcare policy involvement through participation in nursing organizations, submissions for regulatory feedback, and collaborative work with policy creators for meaningful reform initiatives. The most significant dedication lies in advocating for complete practice authority for nurse practitioners to help close healthcare gaps commonly occurring when physicians remain unavailable in rural regions (Flaubert, 2021). I advocate for policies to improve nursing delivery of safe, accessible, cost-effective care to populations requiring healthcare.Integration of Course ContentI plan to integrate the knowledge of healthcare policy and delivery systems gained from this course into my daily nursing practice by staying informed, engaged, and proactive in policy-related matters. Knowing how policy shapes care delivery has made it essential for nurses to keep updated about policy changes while actively contributing to healthcare reform (Flaubert, 2021). I have committed to receiving policy updates from trusted organizations, including the American Nurses Association, and regularly reviewing content from peer-reviewed nursing journals. My continuing education will give special importance to attending webinars, conferences, and workshops about healthcare policy.Personal and Professional GrowthPersonal and professional development occurred substantially during the course as I learned more about healthcare systems while becoming a better nurse leader and advocacy practitioner. My experience as a nurse has shown me how policies and systemic elements create health inequities and led me to want to serve patients by providing compassion along with advocacy in their healthcare. The enhancement of my professional abilities in policy matters has been substantial because I can now take active roles in healthcare innovations while guiding organizational change. I decided to participate in a hospital committee dedicated to safely transitioning high-risk patients through care because participation enabled me to utilize leadership ideas and systems concepts from my course educationConclusionStudying healthcare policy and delivery systems gave me a deep knowledge of the nursing position in healthcare delivery systems and policies. The nursing experience has made me sensitive to how health disparities develop through policy decisions and structural problems, which drives me to serve patients through advocacy and compassion. My professional competence has improved significantly when discussing policy topics because I can contribute to healthcare reforms and implement change in my organization. The leadership and systems-thinking principles I learned in the course enabled me to join a hospital committee that enhances care transitions for high-risk patients. This has become a recent example of my professional growth. Nurses must acknowledge their ethical obligation to speak out with their expertise toward developing policies that support fairness and equal healthcare access. The coursework has delivered the necessary skills, behavioral framework, and self-assurance for transforming healthcare delivery within medical and policy environments.ReferencesFlaubert, J.
