To Comment:

Quantitative research is the investigation of phenomena using manipulation of numerical data with statistical analysis (Fineout-Overholt, & Melnyk, 2015). In terms of nursing research, quantitative research can take the form of randomized controlled trials, and crossover design studies. A randomized controlled trial seeks to establish a cause and effect relationship between an independent variable and the population being studied, while crossover designs study the manipulation of an independent variable of a topic (CIRT, 2016).

A research topic that is important to nursing includes the rate of decubitus ulcers compared to the number of days a patient is on bed rest orders. In a study on this topic, I would use a randomized controlled trial to research records of how many days a patient was on bed rest when skin breakdown occurred. This type of research can lead to practice changes by informing clinical workers on skin breakdown, and how to prevent it. Up to ninety-five percent of pressure ulcers are avoidable by using a comprehensive prevention plan (Blenman, & Marks-Maran, 2017). Using the information gained from this study can be a helpful tool for patient and nurse education, and talking points about how to maintain a healthy skin integrity.

The value of quantitative research into nursing practice, is to objectively collect data to inform practice. Quantitative research is a way to collect data in a non-biased way that can help to change clinical practice by testing new methods of patient care.  By manipulating only one variable at a time, there can be an objective measurement of what is being studied in order to prove that one method of patient care is more effective than another.

Nursing homework help

June 28, 2025/in Nursing Questions /by Besttutor

When nurses have a question about a clinical practiceissue that they can turn to the literature to see what scientific evidence is available that addresses their question. However, as discussed in Week 2, not all evidence is created equal. When looking at the literature, it is important to evaluate each research study.

After viewing the Week 3 Webinar, complete the Appraisal Guide: Findings of a Quantitative Study in this week’s resources. Of the questions discussed on the second page of the critique form, titled Credibility, which ones were identified in the article reviewed during the webinar? Describe one of the most serious flaws in this study and why it leaves you wondering if the study findings should be used as evidence in an assessment of patient handoff?

Before assumptions can be made about the applicability of a study’s results, specific elements of a research design must be evaluated.

This week, you will examine elements of the strength of a quantitative research study’s design, including sample size, generalizability, statistical analysis and conclusions. Keep in mind all studies have flaws or are not valid for your population. Consequently, one study by itself will not warrant a change in practice. It is important to find a number of studies to support your change in practice.

States have been cutting insurance for women to access reproductive health services. This particularly affects low-income families with the overall lack of access to quality reproductive health care. The lack of proper health insurance for women impedes on their reproductive rights as they should be given an opportunity to make their own reproductive choices when it comes to the use of contraceptives and abortions.

This scenario is not different in the state of Florida. As of April 2017, the state only covers abortion under the Affordable Care Act if the woman in question has been raped, is in danger, or if it is an incest case. An abortion may so be performed from week 24 of the woman last menstrual period, but only if the woman’s life is endangered (Jones & Jerman, 2017). Looking at the state’s infant and maternal mortality rates, one can make the connection between bad policies and the consequences. 160 resident pregnancy-associated deaths were recorded in the state January 1, 2015, to December 31, 2015 (Jones & Jerman, 2017). With a pregnancy-related mortality ratio 16.9 per 100,000 live births, it is not hard to associate lack of good reproductive health policies as a major cause attributed to these rates. Of the deaths, approximately 31.6% were non-Hispanic Black women with Hispanic women accounting for 10.5%. It is illustrative of the lack of proper reproductive health insurance.

As an advanced practice nurse and nursing leader, it is the individual’s responsibility to advocate for changes in such policies to ensure better health outcomes for women. Essential VII: Interprofessional Collaboration for Improving Patient and Population Health Outcomes adequately prepares nurses to collaborate, communicate, and consult with other interprofessional groups in order to manage and coordinate care (American Association of Colleges of Nursing, 2014). Women reproductive health is highly important and as a nurse, one is required to play a leading role to ensure better policies are put in place to insure women requiring reproductive health not only in the state of Florida but all over the country.

Abortion forms an essential part of a woman health care. Approximately 920,000 women perform abortions every year in the United States. These numbers point to the importance of reproductive health care as well as a woman’s right to decide whether they want to have children or not. With access to reproductive health care an especially costly affair, states have had to step in to put the required legislative laws to ensure women have access to this important service in terms of health insurance.

In the state of Florida, there are restrictions on abortion which took effect in April 2017. The health insurance in the state under the Affordable Care Act only covers abortion if the woman is in danger, if there is a case of incest, or if it was a rape. Apart from that, the individual can buy an additional rider at an additional cost, which may not be affordable to many. Subsequently, approximately 70% of clinics in Florida counties did not offer abortion services, with 20% of Florida women living in those counties (Vamos et al., 2017).

The statistics for the state’s infant and maternal mortality rates do not make for good reading. In 2015, the ratio for pregnancy-related mortality was 16.9 per 100,000 live births (Vamos et al., 2017). While this is significantly lower than the 26.2 per 100,000 live birth in the previous year, the rates are still relatively high. Almost 50% of those occurred while the mother was still pregnant, miscarriage and almost 10% as stillborns (Vamos et al., 2017). Considering how essential women reproductive health is, there is a need for more to be done in the state if the above rates are to be lowered. The state needs to review its laws to enable women access to insurance either for contraceptives and abortions.

As an advanced nurse, one can use Essential VI: Health Policy and Advocacy which prepares nurses to intervene at the policy level as well as employing advocacy strategies to influence health care and improve healthcare outcomes.

I agree with you that the role of a clinical nurse leader is to find   ways to improve the quality of care rendered to patients. This is in   accordance with the result of a study carried out by Sotomayor and   Rankin in 2017, they noted that the CNL contributed to the reduction   in the incidence of falls, catheter-associated urinary tract   infection, central line-associated blood stream infection,   hospital-acquired pressure ulcers patient care. This is a great   achievement on the part of the CNL, which will also result in cost   reduction in patient care and management.

Evidenced Based Reply 2 Week 1

June 28, 2025/in Nursing Questions /by Besttutor

“Nursing research is a systemic process of inquiry that uses rigorous guidelines to produce unbiased, trustworthy answers to questions about nursing practice” ( Houser, 2018, pg. 5). Nurses can improve quality of life for patients by finding solutions to problems by implementing Evidence based practice and nursing research. Nursing practices that are based on research uses a common format called the PICOT method. According to Riva, Malik, Burnie, Endicott, and Busse, ( 2012), ” Clinicians interested in research pursuits, related to patient care, should consider the use of a literature research and the PICOT format when engaging clinical researchers.” This method allows those researching the direction needed to answer questions of most importance. Upon reading case studies from our reading by Kumar, ( 2015), I chose the middle aged active woman with type 2 diabetes.

PICOT Question:

Can the use of Degludec insulin and dietary modification control blood sugar and reduce hypoglycemic episodes better than the use of another type of insulin with dietary modification in middle aged active females with type 2 Diabetes?

P:  Active middle aged women with type 2 Diabetes

I:   Use of Degludec insulin and dietary modification

C:  Use of insulin pump and dietary modification

O:  Better glycemic control and decreased hypoglycemic episodes

T:   2 months

The focus point of this question would be treatment related. This case study proved that through the use of Degludec insulin therapy, and lifestyle changes, the desired outcome were proved in this 2 month trial, thus allowing this patient to maintain as normal a lifestyle as possible with this treatment. Though the insulin pump worked well for her, it did not mesh well with her current activities.

The Case of Mrs. G.: Client Centered Communication and Collaboration

June 28, 2025/in Nursing Questions /by Besttutor

The Case of Mrs. G.
Mrs. G. is a 75 year old Hispanic woman who has been relatively well all of her life. She had been married for 50 years and had five children. Her children are grown with families of their own. All but one of her children live in other states. Mrs. G.’s husband passed away last year, which was devastating for her. She had been very close to him and relied upon him for everything. He was “the life of the party” she always said and was a loving and caring man. Since his passing, Mrs. G. has continued to live in the house they shared for 35 years. In the last month, Mrs. G. has fallen twice sustaining injuries, though minimal. Her home health nurse comes weekly to check in on her. Mrs. G. likes her very much and wishes she could come more often. Mrs. G.’s daughter who lives in the next town over, has been worried and decided with the urging of her siblings and the doctor to start looking for an assisted living facility for her mother. She found one last week and talked with the Director who said she would be happy to help in whatever way was best. The daughter decided to tell her mother that it was time for her to move, so she can be cared for and be safe. When she told her mother, Mrs. G. cried and said, “This will not happen ever. I plan to stay in this house of loving memories for the remainder of my life.”

In 3 – 4 pages answer the following questions:

  1. How would you best describe Mrs. G.’s feelings about her life, her family, her traditions, and her future?
  2. Did Mrs. G.’s response to her daughter surprise you? Please explain your answer.
  3. In what way do you believe her culture might be influencing her decision?
  4. If you were Mrs. G.’s daughter what would you say to her that shows you are caring and have compassion for her situation? What nonverbal communication would support that level of communication?
  5. Suppose Mrs. G. stands firm about not leaving her house. What resources and collaborations might be available and helpful so the daughter and other healthcare providers can keep her mother safe and make the most effective decision?

Assignment 7b Dollars & Dentists

June 28, 2025/in Nursing Questions /by Besttutor

Now that you have read, reflected and analyzed various ethical and moral issues in healt, I want you to respond to this issues presented in the video Dollars & Dentists..

This is a Frontline edition of a program titled Dollars and Dentists aired on June 26, 2012.

The program was a documentary developed by the Center for Public Integrity and hosted by the Public Broadcasting System (PBS).  The program presents an overview about the poor condition of oral health in this country and some of the issues associated with a broken health care system.  Specifically the program discusses the high cost of dental care, the lack of insurance to cover oral health issues, and how these costs leave many people unable to afford dental care services.  It also calls into question the way corporate America has responded  to fill this need.  Several business models have emerged with big corporate backing.

While viewing the video you should be able to recognize a number of ethical and moral issues that arise related to access to health care, quality of care, and financial exploitation of disparate populations.

After watching the video, respond to the following:

For this assignment there are five perspectives to be considered.  Each of the members of your group will contribute to the final paper which will be submitted on the due date. All 5 perspectives must be included in your final paper. However, each person in your group MUST write about ONE of the the perspectives mentioned below. In addition to clearly articulating the issue in question I will also be looking for an explaination of the ethical considerations for each of the perspectives.

(Corporate Interests)

• From the perspective of corporate interests:

• Like most successful business ventures, they’ve identified a need and are attempting to meet that need. They’re in business to make money and they’re generally quite successful.

• So what are they doing wrong, If anything?

• Should these companies be regulated by the ADA? If not by whom then?
