Topic: Primary Prevention of Sexually Transmitted Diseases

Rationale behind choosing the topic: A focus on epidemiological statistics

Sexually transmitted disease is common infection amongst people of ages between 15 years to 50 years. Sadly, it is also common infants born from a mother who is also infected. Most of the people affected are the young adults in the ages of 15 years to 24 years who consists of 25% of the total population. Additionally, the youths are sexually active and according to the latest statistics 50% of infected people are youths. It is important to control the disease since it is highly continuous. Furthermore, STDs increases the high incidences of acute infections that have a socioeconomic impact in the transmission of HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus). Recent reports suggest that, there are 80% of reported cases of STDs reflecting on limited screening of these infection in the company. Despite high campaigns on safe sex, STDs still continues to be menace especially amongst youths who does not use contraceprectives like condoms. According to recent report about 60% of new HIV infection reported in the country are young people. Therefore, it is important to control the disease especially amongst the young generation who are the future of the country. The prevention of the disease can be done through education, identification of asymptomatic and symptomatic people as well as effective treatment and early diagnosis of the patient.

Nursing Diagnosis: Risk factors for infection R/T

· Injection of drugs

· Lack or insufficient of information

· Abusing alcohol drugs

· Unprotected sex

Readiness for learning

It is the seeking of indication that the audience are showing eagerness to learn. It would ensure that the eagerness is both experiential and emotional for the studies. They would include:

· Presentation of unity to the class when discussing sensitive topic.

· Engagement of learners by giving them information about symptoms of STDs and any mode of prevention.

· Allowance of the time for learners to discuss and present issues related to the topic.

Theory to be applied: Explanation of the theory’s applications

It is important to give hand-outs and pamphlets to the learners that gives detailed discussions on the STDs. these resources should also explain measures taken to prevention the disease.

Goal/objectives: Reduction of STDs infection by taking necessary and appropriate preventive measures

By using the objectives that is supported by CDC’s DASH (Division of Adolescent and School Health), it would give the basis of the class on the prevention of STD and HIV infection. It would support the classes using content for the class. The goal of the program would be to make teen healthy and become healthy adults by focusing on the promotions of health knowledge and skills. The education would focus on the healthy behaviours and control of STDs that cannot be found on clinical interventions. Therefore, the resources provided would focus on the objectives of the class.

Creativity: Application of creativity or creative idea in the teaching methods

Creativity would be applied when making pamphlets and hand-outs with visual aid that displays preventive methods of STDs and HIV infection. Other creative ideas of teaching methods would include use of PowerPoint and video for teach.

Content of the class

· Prevention of STDs

· Each person’s personal opinion of HIV and life skills methods

· Different types of STDs and how they are transmitted.

· Connection between HIV and other STDs

· Prevention of STDs

Evaluation of Objectives:

The evaluation of the objectives would the description of the parameters that is used to measure the attainment of the objectives.

1. The teacher/instructor would conduct an evaluation on what learners have grasped by asking them primary prevention from STDs.

2. Monitoring of the student’s conservation to determine if they have understood prevention strategies of STD.

Planned Evaluation of Goal

It is a description of how and when to evaluation the effectiveness of the teaching plan. It would be a follow up meeting with the sole purpose of observing the learners and asking questions about the STDs/HIV and striving to answer these questions. Learners should focus on problem solving related to STD prevention.

Barriers:

It is important to identify potential barriers that could impede the learners from understanding various concepts. Sometimes it is difficult to identify unprotected sex since it leads to poor understanding. Therefore, barriers of understanding.

Communication barriers: To the learners whose view English as their second language might find it hard to understand some verbal and non-verbal cues used in the class or during the class.

July 1, 2025/in Nursing Questions /by Besttutor

The first step of the EBP process is to develop a question from the nursing practice problem of interest.

Select a practice problem of interest to use as the focus of your research.

Start with the patient and identify the clinical problems or issues that arise from clinical care.

Following the PICOT format, write a PICOT statement in your selected practice problem area of interest, which is applicable to your proposed capstone project.

The PICOT statement will provide a framework for your capstone project (the project students must complete during their final course in the RN-BSN program of study).

Conduct a literature search to locate research articles focused on your selected practice problem of interest. This literature search should include both quantitative and qualitative peer-reviewed research articles to support your practice problem.

Select six peer-reviewed research articles which will be utilized through the next 5 weeks as reference sources. Be sure that some of the articles use qualitative research and that some use quantitative research. Create a reference list in which the six articles are listed. Beneath each reference include the article’s abstract. The completed assignment should have a title page and a reference list with abstracts.

Suggestions for locating qualitative and quantitative research articles from credible sources:

  1. Use a library database such as CINAHL Complete for your search.
  2. Using the advanced search page check the box beside “Research Article” in the “Limit Your Results” section.
  3. When setting up the search you can type your topic in the top box, then add quantitative or qualitative as a search term in one of the lower boxes. Research articles often are described as qualitative or quantitative.

To narrow/broaden your search, remove the words qualitative and quantitative and include words that narrow or broaden your main topic. For example: Diabetes and pediatric and dialysis. To determine what research design was used, review the abstract and the methods section of the article. The author will provide a description of data collection using qualitative or quantitative methods.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

You are not required to submit this assignment to Turnitin.

Resources: Flaherty, E., & Resnick, B. (Eds.). (2014). Geriatric nursing review syllabus: A core curriculum in advanced practice geriatric nursing (4th ed.). New York, NY: American Geriatrics Society.

Geriatric patients have many nutritional and hydration concerns that impact their health and ability to acquire sufficient nutrients. Advanced practice nurses evaluating these patients must be able to account for all barriers that prevent elders from obtaining adequate nutrition, including medical conditions, transportation, finances, physiologic changes, and functional abilities. When evaluating patients, it is important to consider how they eat, what their diet consists of, and whether they have any special dietary needs that are not being met. Assessment tools, such as the Lawton Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL) Scale, are an integral part of this evaluation process as they help providers identify potential obstacles for patients. In this Discussion, you assess a patient at your current practicum site and consider strategies for improving any nutrition or hydration issues.

To prepare:

    • Review this week’s media presentation, as well as Chapters 28 and 29 of the Flaherty and Resnick text.
    • Assess a patient using tools for inpatient and long-term patient care, such as the Lawton IADL Scale.

Note: You should coordinate this opportunity with the Preceptor at your practicum site.

  • Consider whether nutrition and/or hydration might be impacted by the patient’s functional abilities. Reflect on whether the patient is able to go out and get food to eat, cook meals, safely use the stove, etc.
  • Consider the patient’s diet and whether they have any special dietary needs due to medical conditions, such as congestive heart failure, end-stage kidney disease, diabetes, oral health issues, etc. Reflect on whether or not the patient is attempting to compensate for a medical issue and thus creating a deficiency or excess in his or her diet.
  • Based on your patient assessment, think about strategies for improving any nutrition issues that might have presented (e.g., nutritional supplements, community resources such as Meals on Wheels, referral to a nutritionist or dietician, etc.).

By Day 3

Post a description of the patient assessment you performed using a tool for inpatient and long-term patient care, such as the Lawton IADL Scale. Explain whether nutrition and/or hydration might be impacted by the patient’s functional abilities. Then, describe the patient’s diet and whether he or she has any special dietary needs due to medical conditions. Address whether or not the patient is attempting to compensate for a medical issue and thus creating a deficiency or excess in his or her diet. Finally, explain strategies for improving any nutrition issues that might present during the patient assessment.

EBS PROCESS

The nurses ought to measure the blood pressure of the patients depending on the evidence-based process to ensure accuracy. Accurate measurements are a crucial factor in the effective treatment of diabetes, pediatric and dialysis. The method used to measure the blood pressure in children is different from that employed in adults. In children, the process includes an auscultatory strategy that compares the results with those in the oscillometric tool.

PICOT STATEMENT

P – Population: Children about 8 to 15 years with a clinical diagnosis of diabetes, pediatric and dialysis.

I – Intervention: The subjects will be randomized to have management in different time frames of 2, 4, 6 and eight weeks.

C – Comparison: A standardized subject would be used as a control to make active comparisons. This strategy will help us to minimize effects related to not attending the clinic.

O – Outcome: Changes in the blood pressure and blood sugar level.

T – Time: The outcome would be assessed weekly for eight weeks.

Chavers, B. M., Li, S., Collins, A. J., & Herzog, C. A. (2002). Cardiovascular disease in pediatric chronic dialysis patients. Kidney international.

According to Chavers and the rest, there is little information regarding the mortality rate of the children with diabetes and renal diseases. The study evaluated the mortality rate in children suffering from pediatric chronic dialysis. Children of ages ranging from 2 to 17 years were identified from the data system of the United States Renal Data system. A sum of 1500 children was eligible for the enclosure. 31 percent of the kids developed cardiac related diseases, while the rest developed other conditions that are related to either diabetes or pediatric dialysis. The study concluded that cardiovascular disease is the primary cause of child mortality and morbidity in pediatric chronic dialysis.

Brenner, B. M., Cooper, M. E., & Shahinfar, S. (2001). Effects of losartan on renal and cardiovascular outcomes in patients with type 2 diabetes and nephropathy. New England Journal of Medicine.

Brenner et al. contend that nephropathy is the leading source of renal disease. The researchers evaluated the function of the receptor antagonist in the type 2 diabetes patients and nephropathy. A sum of 1500 patients was randomly selected for assessment over the period of 3 years. The receptor antagonist indicated substantial benefits to the renal in the type 2 diabetes patients and nephropathy. The researchers, therefore, concluded that nephropathy could cause renal diseases that could lead to type two diabetes.

Holloway, M., Mujais, S., Kandert, M., & Warady, B. A. (2001). Pediatric Peritoneal dialysis training: characteristics and impact on peritonitis rates. Peritoneal Dialysis International.

The study was steered to regulate the effects of the training program on the peritonitis rates pediatric patients. The survey was done in 170 centers. About 600 children between the ages of 2 to 15 received the peritoneal dialysis in different centers. The results of the study indicated that the trained patients had improved conditions. As such, the researchers concluded that peritoneal dialysis training is crucial in increasing the rate of peritonitis in pediatric chronic dialysis patients.

Schröder, C. H., & European Pediatric Peritoneal Dialysis Working Group. (2003). the management of anemia in pediatric peritoneal dialysis patients. Pediatric nephrology.

Anemia is regular in constant renal disappointment. Rules for the finding and treatment of frailty in grown-up patients are accessible. The study involved the analysis of information from various journals regarding children suffering from anemia. The results should indicate that these children are at high risk of contracting diabetes, and pediatric dialysis. The researchers, therefore, recommended that the children should be given proper nutrition that protects them against anemia.

Schaefer, F., Klaus, G., Muller-Wiefel, D. E., & Mehls, O. (2009). The current practice of peritoneal dialysis in children: results of a longitudinal survey. Mid-European Pediatric Peritoneal Dialysis Study Group (MEPPS). Peritoneal dialysis international,

There has been accruing epidemiological information concerning the exercise of peritoneal dialysis in kids. The researchers contend that over 200 children have been assessed since 1993. The treatment of the modalities have been regulated since 1994, the automated processes of handling the pediatric dialysis have emerged. Method endurance was 95% at three years, however, reduced to70% next five years of action, the principle explanations behind management disappointment being repetitive peritonitis, ultrafiltration disappointment, or mutually. All in all, peritoneal dialysis in youngsters, ideally executed as APD, accomplishes system survival rates like those detailed for grown-ups. Youthful children are at expanded hazard for peritonitis. The current observational PD remedy is of restricted adequacy as far as little solute and liquid evacuation.

Boehm, M., Vécsei, A., Aufricht, C., Mueller, T., Csaicsich, D., & Arbeiter, K. (2005). Risk factors for peritonitis in pediatric peritoneal dialysis: a single-center study. Pediatric Nephrology

Late US registry information and a European multicenter concentrate depicted expanded danger of diabetes in young kids on pediatric dialysis. No primary age-particular hazard variables could be characterized in these accounts. Subsequently, the researchers broke down risk components for the disease in kids regarded by PD as necessary renal substitution treatment especially looked for age-particular perspectives. Our review distinguished six risk calculates univariate investigation, specifically age. Multivariate examination identified leave site contamination and leftover pee volume as robust autonomous indicators. In outline, our review distinguished a few age-ward and age-free hazard components for the disease.

Re:Topic 2 DQ 1

Research can be difficult and confusing to manage. In any action, it is important to be prepared and organized, so that the data does not become overwhelming. Qualitative data is used to predict, control, describe, or explain data in order to improve nursing care (Polit & Beck, 2010, p. 77-80). This type of research is not only labor intensive, but it requires a lot of time and effort.

One way that a researcher can manage and organize data is by preparing for the study prior to starting it. It is important to set a realistic time frame, and develop ways of tracking information. Prior to the study, the population being assessed needs to be determined. Ensuring that questions are simple, so that a large variation does not occur. With more common data, it will be easier to organize findings. Another method that researchers is to determine how they will group the collected information. Some information can be grouped by individual, but it can also be grouped by question. Determining all of this information prior to starting the research will benefit the individual (CER, n.d.).

Financial Procedures in a Healthcare Organization 3-4 Pages APA Format

July 1, 2025/in Nursing Questions /by Besttutor

Health insurance companies provide the majority of the payment for medical services that clinics and physicians deliver. After the care has been delivered, the medical record is reviewed for completeness, codes are applied, and the billing office submits the claim to the insurance company or other third party payer for payment. There are several steps to take when submitting a claim form to the insurance company for reimbursement. The result of a clean claim is proper reimbursement for the services the facility has provided.

Discuss the following:

  • What does it mean to submit a clean claim?
  • List all of the information that is important before the claim can be submitted.
  • Discuss some of the reasons why a claim may be rejected.
  • State various reasons for the importance of a clean claim submission.
  • Address the consequences of not submitting a clean claim.
  • What steps should be taken to check the claim status?
  • As the practice manager, how would you ensure that the claims process results in clean claim submission and very few claim rejections.

Good response to the question Leanet. Many researchers believe that lack of knowledge about research and EBP is present in many nurses today. Even though it is being presented to students in nursing programs now, the connection between research, and its’ effects on daily practice is not made. Many nursing colleagues would rather ask each other for information than searching a database. Since nursing is such a high demand position and many facilities are understaffed many times, I believe this plays an important role in the disconnect. With the changing environment in regards to technology, and the availability at many facilities of internet access and medical librarians, one would think that conducting research would be more efficient and quick allowing evidence-based practice to be more accessible to the clinical nurse.
