Stress and Nursing Practice

Write an 500 word essay addressing each of the following points/questions. Be sure to completely answer all the questions for each bullet point. Separate each section in your paper with a clear heading that allows your professor to know which bullet you are addressing in that section of your paper. Support your ideas with at least two (2) sources in your essay. Make sure to reference the citations using the APA writing style for the essay. • Describe the case that defined you as a nurse.
  • What happened, how were you involved?
  • How does this case still affect you and your practice?
  • What steps have you taken to overcome the stress of this event? (Remember to protect patient privacy).
• Explain the importance of debriefings.
  • If a debriding would happen in your workplace who would be involved, what would be discussed, who would lead the debriefing, where would it take place?

Assignment Expectations:

Length: 500 words

You have been reflecting on changes you have undergone since beginning this program in each of your Journal entries in this course. Now you will synthesize those reflections, plus any other insights into a paper articulating your RN to BSN educational journey. You will use your module Journal entries as well as examples from other RN BSN courses to construct the Synthesis paper.

   

Objectives

Synthesis Paper in a reflective activity comprised of your experience in the RN BSN program.

You will address your experiences before the RN BSN program, you as a lifelong learner, you in the continuum of novice to expert in the professional nursing role, an account of your role transition to a professional nurse, and an evaluation of the program.

The Synthesis Paper will reflect your understanding and use of APA format and scholarly writing.

    

The following rubric will be used to grade the Synthesis Paper. The paper has 6 sections:

Synthesis of Role Transition to Professional Nursing

The paper must have title page, reference page, plus no more than 4 pages that address the 6 sections of the paper outlined in the grading rubric. So with the title page, 4 pages for the body of the paper, and the reference page, the Synthesis Paper must not be more than 6 total pages using 12-point Times Roman font.

The first 2 grading criteria noted in the rubric below apply to all sections of the paper. APA format, scholarly writing, grammar and spelling are graded in each section. Use Spell Check and Grammar Check! 

In-text citations are required to support each section when you discuss the RN BSN courses or the program. Points will be deducted if this information is not detailed and referenced in the document and on the reference page. References need to be evidence-based if you choose to reference literature instead of information in RN BSN courses.

This week, you will construct details of a case study that will form the basis for a Nutritional Care Plan you will prepare over the coming weeks. Your Nutritional Care Plan will be due Week 10.

By the due date assigned, submit your case study in the form of a Word document; double spaced, in 12 pt. font, to the Submissions Area.

NTR2050 Course Project

Nutritional Care Plan

For this project, you will identify a case study and then develop a nutritional care plan for the client associated with that case. You should begin working on your project in advance of Week 5as you construct the details of your case. The completed nutritional care plan for your client is due in Week 10.

Please read this entire document to gain understanding of the project scope and those tasks you will complete. This project will take you several weeks to complete. Do not delay beginning the work on this project.

Project tasks to be completed in Week: 5

Task 1:

1. Choose from one of the following stages: pregnancy, infancy and childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and old age.
2. List the specific nutrition issues affecting individuals in your selected stage.

Task 2:

1. Choose a disease or medical condition that could possibly, or commonly, affect your individual. This could be anything ranging from diabetes to cirrhosis.
2. Using the ABCDs of nutritional assessment, create a case study based on an actual client or patient. You can also make one up. Include the following in your case study:
   1. Anthropometrics, relevant biochemical tests, clinical assessment, and dietary intake analysis.
3. Be sure to include a list of common medications that may be used to treat your patient’s condition and identify potential herb/nutrient/drug interactions that may be relevant.
4. Identify your client’s cultural background and give clues as to their socioeconomic status and psychosocial variables. For example, your patient may be a senior living alone on a fixed income or might be living in a nursing facility with reputed staff.

Choose a topic from the  list below that is of interest to you and review two scholarly articles that explores different aspects of your topic.  (your textbook may not be used as one of your sources ). 

For example, if your topic is asthma, you might find an article that discusses where elementary school age children should store  inhalers;  in their backpacks or the nurse’s office.  You may find a different article that suggests there are more cases of children with asthma from lower income levels  compared to children in other income levels.   Some information will be the same, what is asthma, causes of asthma, etc.  Each article will also contain article specific information, inhalers and income levels.

Your report,

• Identify each article by title, author(s), periodical or journal, issue, date.
• Give a summary of each article.  Include definitions and various perspectives on the topic.
• In what ways do the article relates to the other.   Identify how the articles agree or disagree on various aspects of the topic?  
• Summarize how each article broadened your understanding of your topic of interest.
