Assignment Overview

In this assignment, you will create a delivery outline and deliver an informative speech.

Deliverables

• A one- to two-page (250- to 500-word) paper
• Prepare a four- to seven-minute informative speech that is to be submitted with video and audio

Step 1 Use  an outline you have created.

Step 2 Practice your speech.

Practice using your delivery outline to deliver your informative speech. Print your delivery outline so you can use it as your speaker notes.

• Before you begin your practice delivery, imagine that you are standing in front of your target audience and think about the specific purpose you identified for your speech.
• Remember that your speech should last between four and seven minutes.
• Keep track of the total time it takes you to deliver your speech to stay within this time frame.
• Deliver your speech at least once all the way through.

Step 3 Present your speech in front of a camera.

• Remember to pay attention to the audience’s nonverbal communication and adjust as necessary.
• Upload your Video to YouTube.
• Submit the URL to the classroom

Step 4 Answer the questions.

In a one-page (250-word) paper, address the following:

• Describe any issues you encountered during the delivery of your speech.
• How many times did you practice delivering your speech before you felt comfortable presenting it?
• What aspects of your speech delivery improved the most as a result of your practice?

 Within a budget there are two categories: mandatory and discretionary. In which categories do most public health programs fall? Provide an example of an expenditure that is considered mandatory. Review the Institute of Medicine’s 2010 report “The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health.” Write a 750-1,000 word paper discussing the influence of the IOM report on nursing practice. Include the following:

1. Summarize the four messages outlined in the IOM report and explain why these are significant to nursing practice.
2. Discuss the direct influence the IOM report has on nursing education and nursing leadership. Describe the benefits and opportunities for BSN-prepared nurses.
3. Explain why it is important that a nurse’s role and education evolve to meet the needs of an aging and increasingly diverse population.
4. Discuss the significance of professional development, or lifelong learning, and its relevance in caring for diverse populations across the life span and within the health-illness continuum.
5. Discuss how nurses can assist in effectively managing patient care within an evolving health care system.

Discuss the importance of advocacy as it pertains to patient care. What is the nurse’s role in patient advocacy? Describe a situation in which you were involved with patient advocacy. Explain what the advocacy accomplished for the patient, and what the repercussions would have been if the patient would not have had an advocate.

• Assess the importance of evaluating newly developed health care products in order to determine whether the products should carry existing brand names or whether they should be assigned new brand names. • Use the Internet to research the product offerings of a local health care organization. (Note:These offerings are often found on the health care organizations homepage.) Based on your knowledge of your local region, consider the potential markets for these products. With the grid, you should, at a minimum, analyze the resulting market-product combination. Determine whether or not the product offerings that you selected are consistent with the perceived selections of the given health care entity. Explain your rationale.
