“China’s Great Wall; Angor Wat and ancient Hinduism” Please respond to the following:

· In Chapter 7, we see a great display of the Terra Cotta Warriors. But it also mentions the Great Wall of China in its early phases. Read pp. 212-213, 220 in our class text about China’s Great Wall in its early phases. Next, click on this link: http://www.panoramas.dk/7-wonders/great-wall.html . The Web page it takes you to has a wonderful panorama that is very interactive. Click on the various buttons and make the screen (and wall) circle around; zoom in, zoom out, etc. Comment about what you learned about the size and length of the wall and its phases of construction. (Unfortunately, the modern academic legend that one can see the wall with the naked eye from the moon is false. See http://www.nasa.gov/vision/space/workinginspace/great_wall.html ).

· In Chapter 11, we encounter some of the great Hindu and Buddhist art of India and other parts of Asia. See pp. 370-1 on Angkor Wat in Cambodia, with its city and Hindu monuments. Now, watch the National Geographic video on it, located at http://video.nationalgeographic.com/video/specials/ancient-mysteries/angkor-wat-temples/ . Identify two (2) specific aspects of Angkor Wat and what you learned from them about the history or beliefs of Hinduism.
