Imagine you are hanging out with your friend and tell her, “If I ever win the lottery, I’ll give you a million dollars!” Of course, you never expect to win the lottery. But, next week, you do! Your friend comes asking for a million dollars. Do you have to give it to her? Do you have a binding and legally enforceable agreement, or something less than that? Explain your thoughts.
