New Question
Note that substantive participation on extra discussion threads is always counted toward the participation requirement.
Hi, everyone – Thank you for your continued efforts as we near the end of the course. From some of the discussion points, it sounds like many of us have begun attending more closely to how we are perceiving and cognitively processing our social interactions and working heuristics about social groups–such a cool artifact of this class! For this Week’s “reflection” Discussion Forum, I’d like you to consider the single most poignant and memorable item of new knowledge you took away from the previous week’s Module. That is, think about something you “walked away with” that was entirely new, expanded on your existing knowledge, or helped to reframe something you understood before. Please describe this for your peers here, including how or why this could enhance your own research or other scholarly interests. (Aside: I always recommend to my graduate students when giving presentations especially–but also in writing–to think about the single “walk-away-with” message they want the audience to take out the door; no matter what the last part of the presentation says, I recommend actually saying,” Here is what I want you to walk away with” and laying it on the line. This is very effective to making sure the bottom line is crystal clear!) Thank you! Warmly, Dr. Swanson
