Public health nursing started in the Country as well as North Carolina with the very first registered nurses that provided nursing services on the “poor sick” at home. These nursing staff provided care to people who needed it, no matter monetary compensation. Based on Mary Lewis Wyche, in the book of her The History of Nursing in North Carolina, Amelia Lawrason was the initial public health nurse to perform in North Carolina. She went to Wilmington to take care of the grandmother of her and was employed in the autumn of 1904 by the King’s Daughters Circle, a benevolent ecumenical Christian business, to offer home care to the bad ill of Wilmington. Following the marriage of her in 1906, WIlmington was left by her and died in Van Couver, British Columbia, Canada, on August nineteen, 1946 (Schoon, Porta, & Schaffer, 2018).

Sticking to the leadership of municipal as well as municipal governments, the NC State Government started taking part in public health nursing in 1919.In that season, 2 public health nursing funding plans have been released. The very first was on nutritious nursing of schools. 6 school nurses have been employed by the Nc State Department of Public Health to evaluate school age kids throughout the state for growth, dental condition, infections, especially adenoids and tonsils, and also to search for many other less popular issues (Schoon, Porta, & Schaffer, 2018). 1. Evidence-based practice vs. best practice

Evidence-based practice is a type of research that has undergone some specific scientific evaluation steps before advocating it to be used in the care of patients and any kind of practice. On the other hand, best practice is an agreement made from research and, after proper discussion, may or may not end up being used in practice since it doesn’t go through any scientific evaluation.

2. Efficacy of randomized controlled trials vs. meta-analysis vs. interrogative reviews

There is more efficacy in randomized controlled trials compared to a meta-analysis in that it provides the best and high quality of evidence. This is so because little bias is incurred. However, in a meta-analysis, the level of bias increases, making it less efficient.

The randomized controlled trial is a research design that finds the difference between two groups of participants, the control group or the experimental group, while meta-analysis uses a design that concentrates on previous research results to make a conclusion. Hence, meta-analysis relies on randomized controlled trials. 

The interrogative review entails the entire process of identifying, selecting, and synthesizing evidence from conducted research. Therefore, out of the three, interrogative review is the most efficient since it involves step by step analysis of the research conducted and thus reduces bias.

3. Mechanisms of support of evidence-based practice

• Encouragement of individuals, organizations, and teams to adopt and consistently implement evidence-based results from research finds in day to day practices.

• Incorporate teaching and learning of evidence-based practice in the field of medicines to raise professionals that are utilizing evidence-based practice and will thus support a chance in practice.

• Identifying mentors who have in-depth knowledge and skills concerning evidence-based practice and giving them the role to mentor and act as role models to individuals as well as organizations and thus motivating them to use EBP consistently

4. Challenges in implementing evidence-based practice

• Poor understanding of the meaning and evidence-based practice works and thus makes it challenging to incorporate it in practice

• Lack of adequate support from nurse leaders, and therefore those nurses interested are demotivated.

• A misconception that while doing things the ideal way and use of evidence-based practice consumes time.

• Working in an organization where its culture, as well as its policy, allows one to practice without the need to apply EBP.

What will the job market look like in 5 to 10 years?

  So what do you think the job market for healthcare professionals will look like 5 or 10 years from now? 

While the US healthcare system represents around $3 trillion in annual spending and is the largest single sector of the overall economy, it also sits inside larger “macro trends” that help define the landscape of jobs.

For example, such factors as globalization, the frantic pace of innovative handheld and genomic technology (like the iPhone 6 and mapping the human genome project), 78 million Americans all hitting old age (and higher healthcare utilization) at the same time, and radically changing values and beliefs are all working together to create a larger “context” for new jobs in the healthcare system. 

So what difference do all these big changes mean to us?  The answer is both obvious and complicated. I will answer the obvious part and leave the complicated part to you to discuss. 

The obvious answer is that these big changes are changing the way we live our lives. Just think that it wasn’t that long ago that classes on the internet like ours didn’t exist. And now, we just sort of assume, without even thinking about it, that such classes are perfectly normal. 

So the obvious part is that such factors as globalization, technology, the aging of our society, and changing cultural values are all working together to change pretty well everything that used to be – into something else. 

The hard part – and the part you need to think about – is what do all the changes really mean to the careers of healthcare professionals? 

If we think that healthcare professionals will continue to do exactly what they are doing now over the next ten years then we are not paying attention to how much the work world has already changed from the way it worked ten years ago. 

How will smart phones create new jobs in healthcare? 

Will genomic research eliminate certain diseases by modifying DNA?  What issues are raised by DNA manipulation? 

How will the massive chronic care needs of the elderly create new career opportunities? 

How will healthcare systems evolve to best leverage a global market for their services? 

What new jobs may be created to best meet new consumer demands for more patient-focused care? Less institutionalization of the elderly? And better access to culturally appropriate care givers? 

So what do you think? What’s the job market likely to look like for you in ten or so years?
