Nursing theories are tested and systematic ways to implement nursing practice. Select a nursing theory and its conceptual model. Prepare a 3 slide PowerPoint in which you describe the nursing theory and its conceptual model and demonstrate its application in nursing practice. Include the following:

1. Present an overview of the nursing theory. Provide evidence that demonstrates support for the model’s efficacy in nursing practice. Explain how the theory proves the conceptual model.

Research a patient safety database and provide two additional scholarly references. Feel free to use your text to identify resources and begin your search.

Compose a three (3) page double-spaced paper in APA format that includes the content areas listed below:

Identification of how this database has the potential to increase patient outcomes.

Discussion of how this product or technology will improve data security, improve analytics and benefit health consumers in such a way that minimizes clinical error.

Analysis of the challenges and opportunities to fully automate this product to share with multiple health systems.

A 23-year-old male patient is admitted with a fracture of C6 and C7 that has resulted in quadriplegia. He was injured during a football game at the university where he is currently a senior. His career as a quarterback had been very promising. At the time of the injury, contract negotiations were in progress with a leading professional football team.

1. Use Roy’s criteria to identify focal and contextual stimuli for each of the four adaptive modes.

2. Consider what adaptations would be necessary in each of the following four adaptive modes: (1) physiological, (2) self-concept, (3) interdependence, and (4) role function.

3. Create a nursing intervention for each of the adaptive modes to promote adaptation.

Food addiction is a somewhat controversial term. When considering that obesity is a significant issue in any field of practice, the Advanced Practice Nurse must be aware of current research and treatment discussions. Watch the video in Week 8: Learning Materials from Dr. Mark Gold, who is a world-renowned expert on addiction-related diseases, and Ashley Gearhardt, PhD., a food addiction expert. Read the article in Week 8: Learning Materials that discusses Food Addiction in general and then locate a second article that deals with your population specific program, i.e. family, pediatrics, women, psychiatric, geriatric, acute care, etc.

In your one-two page journal submission, discuss the concept of Food Addiction and possible scenarios or patients that you are likely to encounter in your practice as an APRN.

Finally, discuss your personal thoughts on food addiction – is this real or junk science? Why or why not? How do you intend to address obesity in your own practice?

The paper submission should be 500-750 words in length and in APA format.
