Course Reflection

Course reflection assignment is part of the portfolio that students must complete during last week of the program.

The purpose of this assignment is to provide the student an opportunity to reflect on selected RN-BSN competencies acquired through the NUR4636 course. 

Please, be sure that your paper includes the following:

Introduction: It is really important to start your assignment with a clear introduction that should include the purpose of the reflection and addresses BSN Essentials (AACN, 2008) pertinent to healthcare policy and advocacy. These would usually be included in 1-2 paragraphs.

Body /Reflection: The course reflection is not just a summary of the learning experience during the course. You need to choose at least 4 of the BSN Essentials (AACN, 2008) (see course reflection guidelines) and write a reflective essay regarding the extent to which you feel you are now prepared. Reflect on the NUR4636 course readings, discussion threads, and applications you have completed across this course.

Conclusion: This is your final chance to impress the reader so make it powerful. An effective conclusion identifies the main ideas and major conclusions from the body of your essay. Summarizes the benefits of the pertinent BSN Essential and sub-competencies (AACN, 2008) pertaining to scholarship for evidence-based practice.

Clarity of writing: clear writing, good sentence structure and organization with proper flow of meaning and correct grammar.

APA Format: APA 7th edition is required.

The length of the reflection is to be within three (3) to six (6) pages excluding title page and reference pages.

Describe how trait theory can be effectively applied to the healthcare setting. Include a discussion of the contributions and weaknesses of this theory. 600 words APA format atleast 2 references within the past  5 years.

In this activity, you will learn about long term care in general, then calculate what your long care costs might be in the future.  You will also learn about long term care insurance.  Answer all questions in complete sentences using correct grammar and spelling.  You will copy and paste the questions into a Word document, answer the questions, then save and upload the document to this assignment.

Complete Genworth’s Cost of Care Survey (Links to an external site.). 

Complete the survey again using a city where you would like to live (other than your current city).

2.  Compare the monthly cost of a private room in a nursing home in both cities.  Summarize your findings in complete sentences, including your thoughts regarding what you learned from completing the survey.

Estimate the cost of a long term care policy. (Links to an external site.)

You will need to scroll down a bit until you reach “Estimate the Cost of a Long-Term Care Policy”.  Fill in the blanks to receive your estimate for a policy that pays a monthly benefit of $3100 a month (the default monthly benefit).

3.  What was your monthly premium estimate for the 36-month plan that pays $3100 a month?  After looking back at your results from the cost of care survey, do you think this plan will cover all of your long term care expenses?  Why or why not?  Many people will need long term care for more than two years, but as you increase your monthly benefit and/or length of plan, the cost of the plan also rises.  However, most of you are young and would receive lower premiums.
