The United States healthcare is evidently among the best despite ranking a bit lower than other countries. There are various private and public entities which has been involved in efforts to increase safety of patient care and quality. Most healthcare organizations have adopted evidence-based practice in their practice which to a large extent has contributed significantly in improving the quality of care.

Quality of care is considered to be an integral component in healthcare. The two drivers which I therefore choose to discuss is cost and quality. The guidelines of core quality measures dictates that hospitals should comply with set standards related to diagnoses of severe conditions.

Quality of care is considered critical for the general well-being of individuals. One approach of achieving quality in my practice has been the application of technologies such as the electronic health records (EHRs) and Telehealth in the institution. This has contributed significantly in enhancing information sharing thereby resulting in increased patient safety.

In addition, there is the integration of pay for performance system in the organization. This is a value-based purchasing which represents a payment mode which serves to offer financial incentives to medical groups, hospitals, physicians and other stakeholders for meeting certain set performance measures. This in the end has improved the quality of care delivered.

Cost is another important driver in healthcare. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act has played a critical role in offsetting costs in most healthcare institutions. This law usually provides numerous rights and protections which make health coverage easy to understand and more affordable.

This program expanded Medicaid Program so that it is in a position to cover more individuals with low incomes. This in the end has resulted in care becoming more affordable to a large category of people. My organization has also invested on educating the patients on the need for being insured.

In addition, most nurses are assisting individuals in finding adequate resources to enable them find care in both public and private healthcare institutions. All these shows importance of cost and quality as an important healthcare drivers.
